How to Set Up Vacancy Planning

Vacancy planning defines how many staff you need per shift per day.

1. Go to Sidebar → Vacancy Planning (/staffing-vacancies)
2. Expand a stream and click cells to set requirements per shift pattern and day
3. For each requirement, set craft group (single or OR group), optional scopes, and required count
4. Save from the vacancy modal

Stream-wide tweaks: Hover the stream header row and click the purple layers icon to add or remove craft groups and scopes across the whole stream from this week forward (counts preserved). Full guide: Add or Remove Craft Groups and Scopes Across a Whole Stream.

Shift-pattern bulk replace: Click a shift-pattern row (blue pencil on hover) to replace all requirements on that pattern from this week forward (destructive overwrite — use only when redefining the whole pattern).

Example:

• Emergency AM Shift: 3 RNs, 1 EN, 1 Doctor
• Emergency Night Shift: 2 RNs, 1 EN

The AI uses these requirements when generating rosters and when checking for coverage gaps.
