How hospital billing works
The hospital is the customer. Live departments are line items on that invoice — not separate contracts, and not a charge for clicking “add department” in settings.
- The hospital (organisation) is the customer and receives one invoice.
- You pay for live departments you roster — not for creating a department in settings.
- Staff who work across departments are counted once, in their home department.
- Optional modules are hospital-wide — one price for the organisation, used by every live department. They do not include another AWS hosting fee.

Questions about pricing?
- Who is invoiced — the department or the hospital?
- The hospital (organisation). One Stripe customer, one invoice. Live departments appear as line items on that invoice so finance can attribute cost internally. Departments do not receive a separate bill.
- What counts as a live department?
- A department you explicitly mark live (go-live), not a department record in settings. Creating “ICU” in settings does not change the invoice. Staff who work across departments are counted once, in their home department.
- What happens when a second department goes live?
- It is added as a line item on the same hospital invoice. The first live department is the plan you choose here. From five live departments a health service plan (Enterprise or Horizon) is usually cheaper — talk to us rather than stacking line items.
- Are existing customers moved onto per-department billing?
- No. Organisations already on a hospital-wide plan stay on that plan unless they ask to re-cut by live department. Creating or licensing extra departments does not change their current invoice.
- What optional modules are available?
- Duty Board, Master Roster Targets, IRIS Auto-Approve, and Staff Self-Edit are hospital-wide add-ons — one price for the organisation, used by every live department, with no extra AWS hosting fee. They are not included in Starter, Standard, or Premium. Enterprise and Horizon include all four. Published prices are on this page; we turn the module on for the hospital after you contact us.
- Are add-ons billed per department?
- No. Optional modules are enabled once for the hospital. Every live department can use them. They do not appear as extra department line items.
- What if we already have an add-on turned on?
- Already-enabled add-ons stay included on your current invoice. We do not surprise-bill published add-on prices. If you later want those modules on the published list price, ask us to move them across.
- What is IRIS Auto-Approve?
- A paid add-on that automatically approves open shift claims and accepted shift swaps when they pass strict-clean eligibility checks — no conflicts, no leave, within configured time windows. Leave is never auto-approved. Full audit trail included. Included on Enterprise and Horizon.
- Is IRIS Auto-Approve included in my tier?
- It is included on Enterprise and Horizon. On Starter, Standard, and Premium it is an optional hospital-wide module at the published price. Self-serve plans include core rostering and IRIS generate/chat credits; we enable add-ons after you contact us.
- How do I enable IRIS Auto-Approve?
- Contact us to grant the add-on to your organisation. A platform admin toggles Availability, then your org admin configures windows and exclusions under Organizations → Add-ons → IRIS Auto-Approve. Already-enabled organisations are not moved onto the published price unless they ask.
- How generous are the AI credits?
- Very liberal. If you are rostering 100 staff in a live department, you will typically use around 5,000-10,000 credits/month. Standard tier includes 100,000. Credits are not a constraint for most organisations.
- What if I need more credits?
- Purchase additional credits at AUD $20 per 10,000. We built the allocation so most organisations do not need to.
- Which platform should I choose?
- AWS Australia (Sydney) is the default and is billed in AUD. Choose Global / USA (Singapore) if you want USD billing and do not need Australian data residency. Both platforms offer the same application controls and features.
- Can a single department start without a hospital-wide deal?
- Yes. Starter supports 0–50 staff in that department. Pick the tier for the department that is going live. The hospital still holds the contract and invoice so other departments can join later without a second vendor.
- When will I be charged on trial?
- Card details are collected at signup, but the first charge happens only when your 30-day trial ends. Cancel before then and you pay nothing.
