The 5 Roster Views

The Living Roster has five view modes you can switch between freely at the top of the page:

1. Staff View (Default)

Shows every staff member on rows and dates on columns. Each cell shows the assigned shift. This is the standard view for day-to-day roster management.

2. Coverage View

Strips away individual names and shows headcount by craft group for each shift. Instantly see whether you have enough staff — cells turn red when understaffed. Use this to spot safety gaps without reading names.

3. Shift View

Groups the grid by shift type (AM, PM, Night) instead of by person. Great for checking the overall shift mix across the week.

4. Leave View

Overlays all approved leave on the roster grid. See who is actually on the floor vs who is on leave, without switching pages.

5. Fairness View

Shows night shift and weekend distribution per person. Spot imbalances in workload distribution at a glance.

How to switch: Click the view name tabs at the top of The Living Roster (Staff | Coverage | Shift | Leave | Fairness). You can switch freely — all five views share the same page.

Tip: Coverage View is the fastest way to answer "are we safely staffed?" without counting names manually.
