Open Shift Requests and Leave
The system now automatically prevents you from requesting an open shift on a date where you have pending or approved leave.
What happens
- If you try to request an open shift on a day you have leave, you'll see an error message explaining the conflict
- The message shows your leave dates and status (pending or approved)
- Roster builders are also blocked from approving a request if the staff member has leave on that day
How to resolve
If your plans have changed and you want to work the shift:
- Go to Leave Planner and cancel or withdraw your leave for that date
- Once the leave is removed, you can request the open shift
Why this matters
This prevents situations where someone is both on leave and assigned to a shift — which would create a conflict and confusion for the roster builder.
Tip: If you see a shift you want but you have leave that day, cancel the leave first, then request the shift.
