How to Bulk Edit Multiple Open Shifts at Once
Bulk Editing Open Shifts
Select multiple open shifts and apply changes across all of them in a single action — with a preview before anything is committed.
Step by step
- Click "Open Shifts" in the top bar to open the Vacancy Management panel
- In the "Open Shifts" tab, tick the checkboxes on two or more OPEN rows (hover over a row to reveal the checkbox)
- A sticky action bar appears: "N open shifts selected" with Edit Selected, Close Selected, and Clear buttons
- Click "Edit Selected" — the "Bulk Edit Open Shifts" modal opens
Operations available
| Operation | What it does |
|---|---|
| Add slots (delta) | Adds N slots to each selected shift (e.g. +1) |
| Extend request deadline | Sets a new deadline across all selected shifts |
| Add a craft group | Adds an additional craft group to all selected shifts |
| Add a required scope | Adds a required scope of practice |
| Re-notify currently eligible staff | Sends a reminder email to all eligible staff |
Preview before applying
Click "Preview" to see "X will be updated · Y skipped" with reasons for any skips. Review, go back to adjust if needed, then click "Apply Changes" to confirm.
After applying, a success toast confirms "Bulk edit complete — N vacancies updated" and affected rows update immediately.
Tip: Use bulk edit to add an extra slot to all underfilled open shifts in one action at the start of a busy week, rather than editing each one individually.
