How to Edit an Existing Open Shift
Editing an Existing Open Shift
You can edit an open shift after it has been created — no need to close it and start again.
How to open the edit modal
- Click "Open Shifts" in the top bar of the Roster Command Center to open the Vacancy Management panel
- Go to the "Open Shifts" tab
- Find the shift you want to edit (must have status OPEN)
- Click "Edit Open Shift" on that row
What you can change
| Field | Editable? |
|---|---|
| Number of slots | ✅ Yes |
| Request deadline | ✅ Yes |
| Craft groups (incl. adding additional) | ✅ Yes |
| Required scopes of practice | ✅ Yes |
| Staff notification | ✅ Yes |
| Stream | ❌ Locked |
| Shift pattern | ❌ Locked |
| Date | ❌ Locked |
Identity fields (stream, pattern, date) are locked to protect data integrity. If you need to change them, close the open shift and create a new one.
Auto-decline on eligibility tightening
If you remove a craft group that a pending request was based on, the system automatically declines that pending request and notifies the staff member. A warning appears before saving if this will happen.
After saving
The panel row updates immediately. Any newly eligible staff (e.g. from a newly added craft group) can be notified via the "Notify newly eligible staff" checkbox in the modal.
